The Meaning of Work

& the Myth of Balance

Ashley Quinto Powell

If the pandemic has felt like a dark comedy, you're not alone. The last few years have seen women being asked to make the impossible possible, and statistically, women have carried the brunt of the additional work. Women are being asked to be productive employees, caregivers, virtual school administrators, and chief bottle washers. But hope is not lost: in the midst of the chaos is a chance to reclaim power over our time and rebel against tradition. Can feminine leadership change the nature of work? Ashley will draw from her experience as a business consultant and outspoken mother to share her thoughts and experiences on the meaning of work and the myth of balance.

Bio: Ashley is a serial entrepreneur, revenue generation consultant, and self-advocacy expert.

As a mentor, a volunteer, and in her consulting practice, she helps entrepreneurs create revenue strategies for sustainable growth. She had big successes and maintains a 100% client success rate.

Supporting women is a driving force for her. She speaks nationally on working motherhood, self-advocacy, salary negotiation, and sales and has started several thriving communities to support working mothers and ambitious career women. Her book, Executive Motherhood, is out in January 2021.

Her latest project, myVA Rocks, is a virtual assistant agency focused on helping overwhelmed professionals have it all, without doing it all. Part and parcel to her business is making space for the brilliant workers displaced by the COVID-19 pandemic. The US lost somewhere between two and five million women from the workforce last year. Ashley’s company creates jobs for this tremendous talent that needs flexible, remote work.

She is a proud alumna of InBusiness Madison’s 40 under 40 and a BRAVA Woman to Watch.
