Holding the Space With Grace: The Neuroscience of Challenging Conversations

You know how sometimes you’re having a conversation with someone, and all of a sudden you realize that they’re completely disconnected from you? Do you ever wonder why that happens and how to fix it? During a conversation, there’s a neurochemical cocktail that’s influencing (and being influenced by) you and the person you are talking to. These influences are unconscious, however, we can learn to recognize the signs of neurochemical impacts and use that information to achieve wildly successful conversations.

This lively discussion introduces Conversational Intelligence® (C-IQ®), and other easy-to-use tools for engaging in effective, mindful conversation with clients, project teams, and stakeholders. Together we’ll explore different levels of conversation and by the end of the session participants will be able to:
  • Activate effective, compassionate, mutually successful conversation.
  • Navigate difficult and crucial conversations more effectively
  • Recognize their own conversational strengths and challenges
  • Employ different conversational approaches for specific outcomes
Our guest speaker and WWE member is Jacy Imilkowski and she’s dynamic and diverse. Her mission in life is to connect people to their lost choices and help them see a more meaningful, resonant future. To pay forward the love and support she’s had throughout her life and, as Jack Lemmon so memorably said, “send the elevator back down” to those still working forward.
